Benjamin Hartwell Chesdin Mixture
Chesdin Mixture is a ribbon-cut English-type blend built by adding Latakia over a Virginia base. Latakia's smoky, resinous taste forms the blend's backbone, while the Virginia leaf leaves a grassy, lightly sweet foundation; there is no added flavoring. The tobacco's name comes from the narrative built around the Benjamin Hartwell brand: in the brand's story, Chesdin is mentioned as a riverside resting place. Records indicate the blend was produced first by McClelland and later under Altadis U.S.A. Because of its Latakia intensity, it can be a rough transition for someone coming from aromatic tobaccos.
