Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. Brown Flake U/S

The "U/S" in the name stands for "unscented," meaning untopped. Brown Flake U/S is a traditional flake blend produced by combining various Virginia leaves with Malawi Burley and a measured amount of African dark fire-cured leaf, then stoving and pressing the mix. No heavy sauce or top dressing is applied; only a very fine Lakeland trace from the production line remains. In the smoke, the dark sweetness of the stoved Virginia and Burley's dry, nutty, earthy taste run together; the fire-cured leaf adds a light smokiness in the background. It is a medium-bodied, cool-burning blend with a medium nicotine load.
