Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. Brown Flake Vanilla

This is the vanilla-topped version of the Brown Flake family. The same base is used: burley accompanies Virginia leaf that has been hot-pressed and darkened. The topping replaces the floral and liquorice line of the family's other versions with a single-direction vanilla sweetness. The flake is tight and burns slowly once rubbed out; when moisture runs high, a short airing regulates the burn. In the taste, Virginia's bread-like sweetness and vanilla's creamy note layer on top of each other, while the burley leaves an earthy body in the background.
