HH Old Dark Fired Ready Rubbed is the rubbed-out version of the same-named flake. The blend still rests on Virginias and fire-cured dark Kentucky burley; the leaves are pressed with heat and steam to mature, then sliced, and these slices are rubbed out before packing. The tin doesn't contain whole flakes; it comes as short, thin and relatively dry strands. Being pre-rubbed speeds up packing and lets the tobacco arrive ready to light; in exchange, instead of the slow-opening smoke of a pressed slice, a faster-burning character emerges. The flavor profile is in line with the flake version: it carries the smoky, earthy Kentucky blend, while the Virginias' ripe-fruit sweetness balances that weight. Nicotine load is notable.
