McClelland Christmas Cheer 2009
Christmas Cheer 2009 is the 2009 release of McClelland's single-crop annual Virginia series. Flue-cured Virginia leaves picked at peak maturity are pressed into cake, matured, sliced, and partly broken up before being tinned as broken flake. It's an unflavored blend; the taste comes from the leaf's own sugar, following a bready, fruity line. On opening the tin, the brand's characteristic sharp, vinegary aroma is pronounced. Since each year's crop is separate, releases are treated as distinct records from one another. The maker halted operations in early 2018.
