Per the maker's account, Louisiana Perique and Oriental leaves are enriched with pitch-black Latakia; the blend is hand-rubbed and then cut into 2.1-millimeter slices. The high proportion of Latakia determines the blend's character; the Oriental adds dry spice, while Perique adds a sharpness recalling plum and pepper. Flavor intensity sits at the top band, and nicotine is pronounced too.
