Peter Heinrichs No. 154 is a Virginia-Burley blend built by combining leaves cut to different widths. Per the maker's account, one-millimeter, long-fibered Burley and Kentucky are combined with three-millimeter golden Virginia; this cut difference produces an evenly, slowly burning tobacco. Burley and Kentucky give the blend a dry, earthy, smoky body while Virginia serves a balancing function with its sweetness.
