Pure Burley is a product from Robert McConnell's single-varietal "Pure" series, made entirely of Burley leaf. Burley's characteristic dry, nutty, faintly cocoa-like taste comes through unflavored; with low sugar content it offers no sweetness, but carries more nicotine than Virginia. At a near-dry moisture level it burns slow and cool, with little tendency to bite the tongue. The brand is Belfast in origin; production continues today in Germany.
