Samuel Gawith Pure Latakia

Pure Latakia, as the name states, consists of a single leaf type: Cyprus-style smoke-cured Latakia. Latakia is obtained by treating sun-cured Oriental leaf indoors with brush and wood smoke; this process imparts the scent of soot, tar, and resin to the leaf. Its nicotine is low, its flavor extremely intense. Samuel Gawith offers this product not as a stand-alone smoke but as a component blenders add to their own mixtures. Smoked alone the taste stays one-dimensional and sharp; in English and Balkan-style mixtures it is balanced with Virginia and Oriental leaf.
