Samuel Gawith Sam's Flake

Sam's Flake is Samuel Gawith's pressed slice tobacco combining Virginia with Oriental (Turkish) leaf. It carries no casing. Like the brand's other flakes, it is moist when tinned; slices can be packed intact or lightly broken, and burning noticeably eases when used closer to dry. It is on record that flavors settle a few days after the tin is opened. At the start of the smoke, Virginia's sweet, cool line leads; further into the bowl, the Oriental leaf's spiciness takes over, though Virginia sweetness remains the main axis. A slight freshness is felt during the smoke, the ash stays clean and mild; tongue bite is limited when smoked with control.
