Vauen No. 14 Virginia Flake

No. 14 Virginia Flake is the plain Virginia flake German maker Vauen offers in 50-gram tins. Only Virginia leaf is used in the blend; no other tobacco type is added. Per the maker's own description, the leaf receives a very light top casing that leaves the blend with a nutty edge and a faint trace of vanilla. The taste is built between the Virginia leaf's own sweetness and this subtle casing; the flake structure gives a slow, cool burn. Nicotine sits in the medium range and flavor intensity is moderate. Since tin moisture runs high, separating the flakes and letting them dry briefly before packing helps regulate the burn.
