Pipe Brands
Fat Bastard Pipes
The one-man workshop of Alex Goojvin, working in Denmark; known for producing large-bodied freehand pipes shaped on a grinding wheel rather than a lathe.
Fat Bastard Pipes is a small pipe workshop run single-handedly in Denmark by a maker named Alex Goojvin. The workshop's output consists of large-bodied freehand pipes not tied to any mold or model number. The brand's unusual name also nods to this scale; it is a nickname carried over from the maker's youth.
Founding of the Workshop
According to the record, Goojvin began making pipes around 2009-2010, producing his first pieces without any intent to sell, purely for his own use. The business took on a commercial identity only in later years, and the workshop is still not a full-time operation today.
By the maker's own account he was born in California; he has lived with his family in Denmark for a long time and carries out his production there. This dual background makes it hard to place the brand within a single national school. Even so, its mold-free way of working, with proportions determined piece by piece, shows a kinship with the workshop habits of the generation that followed the Danish school.
