Wojtek Pastuch (W. Pastuch Pipes)

Polish maker Wojtek Pastuch, born in Katowice, makes nature-themed freehands at the workshop he founded in Silesia in 2011; he stamps his pipes with a four-digit code that treats 2011 as its starting point.

Wojtek Pastuch is a Polish pipe maker who produces his pipes under the signature W. Pastuch. Born in Katowice, Pastuch opened his workshop in 2011; his bench is now located in Dobieszowice, in Silesia, and production runs entirely by his own hand. His name is counted among the few signatures representing Poland's contemporary handmade pipe production on the international scene.

The Years Leading to the Workshop

Before the workshop's founding lies roughly a decade of enthusiasm. Pastuch relates that he has been interested in pipes since age fifteen, and that he pursued this interest through smoking, collecting, and repairing old pipes. Having spent part of his childhood and youth in Italy made it easier for him to build ties with both countries' pipe communities at once; according to records, he was a regular participant in both local Polish clubs and Italian enthusiast circles. His decision to make his own pipes came in 2011. His birth year is recorded as 1988.
