Alfie's Blend is one of the eponymous blends from Turmeaus, the English tobacconist tracing its origins to 1817, distributed in 50-gram tins through the company's Liverpool-based store chain and C.Gars Ltd. Its weight rests on toasted, oily, mouth-filling Oriental leaf; a small touch of Perique and only trace-level Latakia are added over it. This dosage keeps the blend away from the smoky end of classic English mixtures, with Latakia remaining a light smoky frame in the background rather than a dominant layer. In character it's a medium-strength, unflavored, dry smoke; since it carries no sweetening sauce, the tobacco's own tangy-salty Oriental taste comes forward. Though the tin indicates a higher strength on the maker's scale, the smoke as described sits in the medium band.
