Bosphorus New Virginia Flake 2021

New Virginia Flake is a flake prepared from a single Virginia type, lightly sweetened with lemon and plum notes. It was brought in to replace the brand's discontinued Full Virginia Flake, and has been reworked several times over time. In the 2021 version, sugar content was reduced by about 30% compared to previous versions, yet the smoke is recorded as tasting sweeter; the manufacturer attributes this to changed production techniques. Being offered as fresh flake, its moisture is high; if smoked without being broken up and aired it runs wet, a problem that disappears once rested. Smoked at a slow, even pace, the sweet-tart aroma persists from start to finish, with strength staying medium.
