English Mixture, offered by Brigham under its Mr. B's umbrella, is a traditional English-style mixture made up of a combination of red Virginia, Turkish (Oriental) leaf, burley, Latakia and perique. Per the manufacturer's description, the blend stays in the medium-strength band on the English-mixture scale; Latakia is not dominant, used instead as a component that frames Virginia's sweetness and the Oriental's dry spice. The small addition of perique adds a light fruity-peppery edge to the flavor. Since the cut is ribbon, filling and lighting the pipe is easy. Brigham is a Canadian-origin firm that began with Roy Brigham's pipe-repair workshop in Toronto in 1906; per records, a portion of the brand's tobaccos are manufactured at factories outside Canada.
