Century Charleston Blockade

Charleston Blockade is the unflavored virginia record in the Century line. Per the seller's description it is blended solely from aged red virginia leaf and offered in what is called Krumble Kake form — pressed under heat but easily crumbled by hand. The name refers to the blockade imposed on Charleston harbor during the American Civil War. When red virginia is held under pressure its sugars concentrate, producing a bready, dark-fruited, sweet-leaning flavor. With no top flavoring applied, the taste comes entirely from the leaf itself, and it is a record that needs to be smoked slowly to avoid tongue bite.
