Cornell & Diehl Engine 99

Engine #99 is one of Cornell & Diehl's high-Latakia, full-bodied English mixtures, its name referencing a locomotive. It contains Latakia, perique, Virginia, burley, Oriental, and toasted black cavendish. According to available sources, the blend was born from combining the unpressed components of Pirate Kake with Red Odessa. On the palate, Latakia's smoky, tarry character sits against the vinegary, tangy sharpness of the Orientals; perique adds spice and sweetness, while the burley-Virginia pairing carries the body.
