First Snow belongs to Hearth & Home's Slow-Aged series. Full-bodied Burley, sharply sweet Virginia, and some fire-cured Kentucky are pressed and rested for about a month before being offered as broken flake; this resting period lets the flavors meld together. The profile runs along a nutty, earthy axis, with Kentucky leaving a smoky background. Since it comes as broken flake, rubbing it out a bit by hand before packing eases the burn.
