Iwan Ries Dr. Bradley

Dr. Bradley is one of the long-running house blends of Iwan Ries & Co., which has operated in Chicago since 1857. Per the maker's description, it's a full, sweet tobacco; though it carries an aromatic hint, it doesn't give a dominant aromatic flavor or aroma. In that respect, it sits at a crossing point between American-style "codger" blends and more unflavored mixtures. Its base is built on Burley and Virginia leaves; black Cavendish adds sweetness, and a measured Latakia share adds a light smoky layer as well. Records indicate the fine top flavoring leans toward plum-like dried fruit and doesn't mask the tobacco's natural taste.
