Vintage Flake is described as the sweetest, fullest-bodied blend in the Virginia flake line of the Danish Paul Olsen (My Own Blend) house. It consists of pressed and sliced Virginia leaves; it carries no flavoring, drawing its sweetness from the leaf's own sugar. Sources highlight its nutty sweetness and satisfying fullness, noting the taste intensifies in larger bowls. Drying and rubbing out the slice, or folding it into the bowl, are the usual ways to pack it. The Paul Olsen house has kept up Copenhagen's tradition of personal blending since the 1930s, accumulating over ten thousand recipes in its archive; this flake line is among the small number of recipes taken into regular production. Its aging-friendly nature has led to dated tins being kept on record.
