Rattray 40 Virginia

40 Virginia is one of Rattray's unflavored, full-bodied blends. It is prepared by combining Virginia leaf ranging from bright gold to nut-brown with Burley; the tin holds a mix of ribbon cut, broken flake, and cube-cut pieces together. This mixed-cut structure keeps the burn even and builds layers of flavor at different intensities through the smoke. The blend's taste rests on natural Virginia sweetness reminiscent of honey and dry hay; Burley adds an earthy body and fullness to that sweetness. It carries no flavoring. The Rattray name draws on the Scottish pipe-tobacco tradition; the brand's tobaccos are produced today in Germany.
