Heavy English #503 is an unflavored English mixture from Sutliff's numbered bulk line. The blend's backbone is formed by oriental leaves, chiefly Izmir; Cyprus latakia builds a smoky, mustily sweet support layer, while lemon Virginia adds citrusy acidity and herbal freshness. The cut is ribbon. Along the flavor line, smoky cocoa, spiced floral, and citrus notes appear. Despite the "heavy" in its name, the latakia ratio is kept moderate; the smoke stays cool and dry, with a low tendency to bite the tongue.
