Cut Golden Bar is the unflavored Virginia blend from W.D. & H.O. Wills, manufactured in Bristol and London. According to records, it's been on the market since the 1920s and was widely sold in yellow and red tins through the mid-twentieth century. The blend is built from bright and red Virginia leaves. Its smoke is rich and smooth; it leans toward the sweet side without a grassy or hay-like character, and its impact on the tongue stays measured relative to that fullness. It contains no flavoring; the sweetness comes entirely from Virginia's own sugar. It's no longer produced today; the tins referenced mostly turn up in the collector's market.
