Butera Dark Stoved

Dark Stoved is the steam-darkened, pure virginia cake in Butera's Royal Vintage line. A single type of lemon-yellow virginia leaf, once matured, is slowly heated under pressure; by the end of the process the cakes turn chocolate-colored. The heat treatment lowers the leaf's tartness and brings dark fruit and baked flavors forward. Through the smoke the taste shifts from tart and spicy toward soft and round.
