Rattray Hal O' the Wynd

Hal O' the Wynd is a blend presented as broken flake, built on a Virginia-heavy base with a small amount of Kentucky and Perique added. It arrives moist from the tin; packed without airing it burns unevenly and wets the pipe, while used near dry the flavor line settles into place. On the first light, a sharp, lightly tart taste comes forward; as the smoke progresses this sharpness gives way to Virginia's plain sweetness, and intensity increases. The Kentucky and Perique proportion is kept low, so the blend largely carries a pure Virginia character. Nicotine is high.
