Mississippi River Special Reserve is a longer-aged, tinned version of the Virginia blend of the same name. The ingredient list matches the main record: a pressed Virginia body accompanied by Oriental leaf, a small amount of Latakia, and Perique. What sets it apart is the extra maturation period the blend undergoes before tinning. Aging lets the Virginia sugars turn into a deeper, rounder taste; the sharp edges of the accent leaves are filed down and the blend becomes a more integrated whole.
