Wilke Pipe Tobacco Wilke No. 531

Wilke No. 531 is a blend the maker revived from its old ledgers. Its composition consists of Virginia, Burley, and a modest amount of Perique; it contains no Latakia. The brand states that the blend's number comes from founder Edwin Wilke's birthday. With no smoky component present, the character rests entirely on Virginia's bready sweetness, Burley's dry body, and Perique's dark, fruity spice. Since the Perique ratio is kept low, its peppery bite doesn't come to the fore, instead mainly deepening Virginia's sweetness.
