North Star is prepared by combining light Brazilian- and Indian-origin leaf with dark Indonesian- and Indian-origin leaf, sauced with licorice root. The light leaves carry the sweetness, while the dark leaves carry the body and earthy depth. The licorice topping is the blend's most pronounced marker; its sweetness is rooty and lightly bitter rather than sugary.
