McClelland Bayou Slice

Bayou Slice is a Virginia-Perique slice McClelland put into production in 2005 within the Blakeney's Best series. The name nods to the Louisiana bayou region where Perique is grown. The blend uses a generous proportion of cake-pressed and rested Louisiana Perique, joined by sweet, mild red Virginia. The dense, dark brown broken slices carry lighter-toned veins; the tin note runs earthy and spiced, reminiscent of fermenting fruit. Since it's moist straight from the tin, the slices need rubbing out and some airing.
